  • My challenge now is to install the help function on my Mac. I found the download file for 0.19 but I got stopped with getting the message that FreeCad can't launch the 'qt assistant', which is available. I researched the forum without success. I've installed the version with an dmg file directly on my Macbook using Big Sur with the latest updates.

Dear all,
I'm a pretty young user of FreeCAD 0.19. It's really a great CAD solution.
The installation was easy to me and watching a number of tutorials helped a lot to start working with.
I did me first working bench for my own garage.
My challenge now is to install the help function on my Mac.
I found the download file for 0.19 but I got stopped with getting the message that FreeCad can't launch the 'qt assistant', which is available.
I researched the forum without success.

Most distributions carry FreeCAD in their official repositories, however, if the distribution doesn't follow a rolling release model the version they provide might be outdated. Instead you can download the AppImage above, mark it as executable and launch it without installation.

A portable version that doesn't need installation can be achieved by starting FreeCAD with these commands: introduced in version 0.19
